Tips for Maintaining a Healthy Beard

Tips for maintaining a beard

Maintaining a healthy beard. We’ve touched on growing a beard and hair transplant procedures that will give your beard a more full and attractive look. You’re excited to finally be in your favorite barber’s chair for a nice trim which is awesome; however, that shouldn’t be all you’re doing to maintain a healthy beard. Let’s see what else you can do to keep a healthy beard. Check out five killer tips to keep your beard flawless.

1 – Clean your beard well

You’ll be surprised to know how many people think that water at bath time is enough when taking care of your beard. However, it is essential to wash your face carefully, preferably using a mild soap, to remove any dirt that clings to your hair or accumulates on your skin throughout the day.

A beard is not as adequate skin protection as many think—quite the opposite. The beard accumulates more dirt and impurities, so it is necessary to be very careful with hygiene. Those who wear long mustaches should redouble their attention. They end up coming into contact with food and drink during the day, so they keep even more dirt, in addition to being in contact with the mouth. Some may have seborrhea, also known as dandruff. It is good to take care of the beard better in these cases by using anti-dandruff shampoos. The idea is to wash your beard at least twice a day with mild soap or dandruff shampoo, once in the morning and at night.

2 – Don’t let your beard grow wildly

Beards are getting longer and longer, but letting them grow wildly without worrying is not the way to go. To take care of the beard in the best way, it is necessary to take care of this growth with certain touches. The beard is not uniform, so you must be careful that it does not grow unevenly. On the sides of the face, for example, hair tends to grow much faster. The ideal is to trim with an electric machine or scissors and comb as much as possible.

3 – Pre-shave cream and conditioner for a smooth shave

I think you’ve already realized how important it is to take care of your beard, right? So, this step will be definitive in the visual. Facial hair is usually much thicker than the hair on your head. Take good care of them to make them look better and softer.

To care for the beard, apply conditioner after showering and let it sit for five minutes. Pre-shave creams also perform this function well, leaving the hair soft and less dry. However, avoid using a pre-shave conditioner and shaving cream every day. They can increase the oiliness of the skin, causing some problems like pimples and even dandruff. Ideally, do this process every other day.

4 – Use shaving cream. Not soap!

Many beard wearers use soap and a razor to shave; this is a very common but terrible mistake. Soaps don’t let the blade slide easily and can irritate or hurt the skin on your face.

Ideally, use silicone shaving creams. This type of product makes the shaver blade slide easily across your face and eliminates hair you don’t want to leave on your face.

5 – Choose a beard design

You may not be a big fan of beards, but you need to define where yours begins and ends. Don’t just let your beard grow wild with a few trimmings every now and then. In some cases, you need to pick up the razor blade and clean some parts of your beard. Having a solid design that you like will help motivate you to maintain and keep your beard healthy.
